Tau proteins are important in the assembly of microtubules. In normal brain, tau is localized within the axons of the neurons, but in some neuropathological lesions, it accumulates within the body of the neuron. Tau proteins are thought to be abnormally phosphorylated in certain disease states. Tau has been immunohistochemically localized to neurofibrillary tangles of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) brains. Tau proteins promote the assembly of tubulin monomers into microtubules and stabilize microtubules. Alternate splicing of tau mRNA, glycosylation, and differential phosphorylation contribute to the heterogeneity of tau.

Recommended Dilution:Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Reconstitution:Reconstitute each vial with 100ul sterile, ddH2O. The peptides may be gently vortexed or triturated at RT to ensure complete solubilization. If the peptides are found to be slow to dissolve, the pH of the solutions may be neutralized by addition of small volumes (1-2ul) of 1.0N ammonium hydroxide; alternatively, the peptides may be solubilized by addition of small volumes of organic solvent, such as ethanol or DMSO.
Storage and Stability:Lyophilized powder may be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Stable for 12 months at -20°C. Reconstitute (see reconstitution instructions for peptides) and store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
