Recently, 3-O-methylviridicatin was demonstrated to be a strong inhibitor of the tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF)-induced replication of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Lack of availability has hitherto restricted a more intensive investigation of this interesting metabolite.
