Luteoreticulin is a rare nitrophenyl pyranone closely related to aureothin, neoaureothin and its unusual photoisomers Antibiotics SNF4435C and D. Metabolites within this class have been shown to be potent antitumor agents with pronounced immunosupressive activity and more recently, the ability to reverse multi-drug resistence. The lack of availability of luteoreliculin has hitherto restricted a more intensive investigation of this interesting metabolite with publications relating only to the metabolite's isolation and chemistry.
DMSO and DMF, partially soluble in methanol and ethanol while poorly soluble in water
