PGP9.5/UCH-L1 is a member of a gene family whose products hydrolyze small C-terminal adducts of ubiquitin to generate the ubiquitin monomer. PGP9.5 is a component of the ubiquitin system, which has a fundamental role in regulating various biological activities. PGP9.5 gene encodes two opposing enzymatic activities that affect alpha-synuclein degradation and Parkinson's disease susceptibility. Recombinant PGP9.5 protein was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
Molecular Weight: 24.8kD (223 a.a) (Real molecular weight on SDS-PAGE will be shift up)
Enzyme Activity:Specific activity is > 150 pmol/min/ug, and is defined as the amount of enzyme that hydrolysis 1.0 pmole of ubiquitin-AMC per minute at pH 7.5, at 37°C.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
