• Recombinant CDK8 (cyclin-dependent kinase 8; protein kinase K35; CDK8 protein kinase; cell division protein kinase 8; K35) is a member of the cyclin-dependent protein kinase (CDK) family. CDK family members are highly similar to the gene products of Saccharomyces cerevisiae cdc28, and Schizosaccharomyces pombe cdc2, and are known to be important regulators of cell cycle progression. This kinase and its regulatory subunit cyclin C are components of the RNA polymerase II holoenzyme complex, which phosphorylates the carboxy-terminal domain (CTD) of the largest subunit of RNA polymerase II. This kinase has also been shown to regulate transcription by targeting the CDK7/cyclin H subunits of the general transcription initiation factor IIH (TFIIH), thus providing a link between the 'Mediator-like' protein complexes and the basal transcription machinery. Recombinant CDK-8 is expressed in E. coli as a full-length protein fused to a proprietary 16-Kd tag (a 6xHis tag is located at the very N-terminal end).
• Application:Recombinant human CDK-8 can be used directly as a positive control in Western Blot, ELISA, Immunoprecipitation and other Immunological experiments. The biological activity of this product has not yet been tested.
• Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, aliquot and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
