Transforming Growth Factor-alpha (TGF-alpha) is a polypeptide growth factor which stimulates the proliferation of a wide range or epidermal and epithelial cells. TGF-alpha is produced by monocytes, keratinocytes, and many tissues. TGF-alpha has been shown to play a role in the autocrine growth of certain transformed cells. Human TGF-alpha is a 5.5kD protein containing 50aa residues.
Source:Recombinant corresponding to human Transforming Growth Factor alpha expressed in E. coli.
Molecular Weight:~5.5kD
Endotoxin: <0.1ng/ug
Biological Activity:ED50 ≤0.2ng/ml (>5x10e6units/mg). The biological activity was determined by measuring the TGF-alpha dose dependent proliferation of mouse BALB/c 3T3 fibroblasts. The optimal concentration should be determined for each specific application.
Storage and Stability:Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Reconstitute to ≥100ug/ml with sterile ddH2O. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For long term storage add 0.1% HSA or BSA, aliquot, and store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
