The 20kD variant form of human growth hormone (20kD hGH) presents in extracts from pituitary glands and it differs from the major form of hGH (22kD, 191 amino acids) by the deletion of amino acid residues 32-46. The physiological role of 20kD hGH remains to be determined partly but it regards the main function as stimulation of somatic and bone growth, as well as an increase in the size and mass of organs and tissues.
Biological Activity:Measured in cell proliferation assay using Nb2-11 rat lymphoma cells. The ED50 for this effect was ≤4ng/ml.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months after receipt at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
