DnaK, originally identified for its DNA replication by bacteriophage lambda in E. coli is the bacterial hsp70 chaperone. This protein is involved in the folding and assembly of newly synthesized polypeptide chains and in preventing the aggregation of stress-denatured proteins
DnaK (residues 508-638) of the substrate binding domain is alpha helical and appears to act as a lid covering the substrate binding cleft. Additional amino acid (Met) is attached at the N-terminus.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
