• Myostatin (GDF-8) is expressed uniquely in human skeletal muscle as a 12kD mature glycoprotein consisting of 113 amino acid residues and secreted into plasma. Myostatin is a member of the transforming growth factor beta superfamily of secreted growth and differentiation factors that is essential for proper regulation of skeletal muscle mass. Studies have shown that myostatin could play an important role in cardiac development and physiology.
• Human Myostatin-HisTag, produced in E. coli, is 16kD protein containing 113 amino acid residues of the Human Myostatin and 37 additional amino acid residues.
• Human Myostatin is recombinant protein with N-terminal fusion of HisTag with added 31 amino acid sequence as a spacer: Met-Arg-Gly-Ser-His-His-His-His-His-His-Gly-Met-Ala-Ser-Met-Thr-Gly-Gly-Gln-Gln-Met-Gly-Arg-Asp-Leu-Tyr-Asp-Asp-Asp-Asp-Lys-Asp-Pro-Ser-Ser-Arg-Ser-MYO). • Purity: ≥ 95% by SDS-PAGE. Purified by immunoaffinity chromatography.
• Form: Supplied as a liquid in 0.05M acetate buffer, pH 5.5.
• Applications: Suitable for use in Western Blot and ELISA. Other applications not tested. Recommended Dilutions:Optimal dilutions to be determined by researcher.
• Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and freeze at -70°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months.
