TRAIL, a member of the TNF ligand superfamily, induces apoptosis in tumor cells but not normal cells. TRAIL is expressed by the cells of many tissues, including thymus, spleen, lung, kidney and others. This recombinant protein corresponds to the TNF-like portion of TRAIL’s extracellular domain (168 amino acid residues).
Reconstitution:Reconstitute with sterile, ddH2O to 0.5-1.0mg/ml. Do not vortex. Further dilutions should be made in aqueous buffers with carrier protein, such as 0.1-1.0% BSA.
Biological Activity:ED50 = 1-3ng/ml, determined by the dose dependent induction of apoptosis with U343MG cells.
Storage and Stability:Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C. Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Reconstituted product is stable for 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
