Avidin, synthesized in the hen oviduct, is a glycoprotein of MW 68,000 daltons which occupies about 0.05% of the total protein content of the hen egg white. Native avidin is a tetrameric protein composed of four identical subunits. Each subunit is glycosylated at 17-Asparagine.
Applications:Suitable for ELISA, Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry. Other applications not tested.
Immunohistochemistry: 1:1000-1:5000Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 6 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Labeled with horseradish peroxidase (HRP). Sodium azide is a potent inhibitor of peroxidase and should not be added to HRP conjugates. HRP conjugates are sensitive to light.
