Glycosylated recombinant ecto-domain of gD produced in Pichia pastoris. HSV gD is a 319 amino acid sequence representing the external domain of the gD molecule without membrane spanning and cytosolic sequences. It encodes a protein of from 33-36kD that contains three sites for glycosylation.
The yeast system adds a mannose core oligosaccharide to N-linked motifs and this may add up to 3,000–5,000 per site. Glycosylation is heterogeneous and results in two dominant forms that correspond to approximately 45kD and 50kD and a minor band at approximately 34kD that is not glycosylated. All three react with HSV gD specific sera and monoclonal antibodies obtained from several sources.
Applications:Reactive with mouse monoclonal antibodies in ELISA and Western Blot assays. Reacts with patient sera and murine monoclonal antibodies in ELISA or Western blot.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. For long-term storage and to avoid repeated freezing and thawing, add sterile glycerol (40-50%), aliquot and store at -20°C or colder. Aliquots are stable for at least 6 months at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
