Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), also known as ACAH, is an essential counter-regulatory carboxypeptidase of the renin-angiotensin hormone system, which is a critical regulator of blood volume, systemic vascular resistance, and thus cardiovascular homeostasis.
ACE2 is a suppressor of renin-angiotensin system (RAS).
ACE2 converts angiotensin I to angiotensin 1-9, a nine-amino acid peptide with anti-hypertrophic effects in cardiomyocytes, and angiotensin II to angiotensin 1-7, a vasodilator.
Besides the role in the cardiovascular system, ACE2 also plays a role in lung diseases as a receptor for SARS-CoV-2.
Recently, with the COVID19 caused by SARS-CoV-2 spreads around the world, ACE2 functions as a receptor on the cell surface to bind with spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 in SARS-CoV-2 infection.
And the mechanism of SARS-CoV-2 invasion via ACE2 are gradually being revealed.
Based on these studies, there are more coronavirus-host interactome targets which have been found, such as TMPRSS2 and CD147.
All of these works are critical to SARS-CoV-2 treatment, and provide potential targets of drug development for SARS-CoV-2 therapy.

Recommended Dilution:Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks.
For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt.
Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
