Synaptic vesicle fusion reactions are mediated by a variety of SNAP proteins, including alpha and beta SNAPs and SNAP-25.
Together with synaptotagmin and NSF, alpha-SNAP modulates the interaction of SNAP25, VAMP, and syntaxin in an ATP-dependent manner to form a 20S complex associated with synaptic vesicle docking and fusion.
beta-SNAP interacts with synaptotagmin and may be involved in calcium-regulated exocytosis.
