BTC encodes a member of the epidermal growth factor (EGF) family of proteins.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants, at least one of which encodes a preproprotein that is proteolytically processed to generate the secreted growth factor.
A secreted form and a membrane-anchored form of betacellulin bind to multiple different EGF receptors.
Betacellulin romotes pancreatic cell proliferation and insulin secretion, as well as retinal vascular permeability.
Mutations in BTC may be associated with type 2 diabetes in human patients.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot and ELISA.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Western Blot: 1:500-1:2000ELISA: 1:40,000Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
