MUC7 (mucin 7, secreted) is a protein coding gene.
Diseases associated with MUC7 include asthma and asthma susceptibility, Muc7-related.
Among its related pathways are O-linked glycosylation and HIV life cycle.
MUC7 encodes a small salivary mucin, which is thought to play a role in facilitating the clearance of bacteria in the oral cavity and to aid in mastication, speech, and swallowing.
The central domain of this glycoprotein contains tandem repeats, each composed of 23aa.
This antimicrobial protein has antibacterial and antifungal activity.
The most common allele contains 6 repeats, and some alleles may be associated with susceptibility to asthma.
Alternatively spliced transcript variants with different 5' UTR, but encoding the same protein, have been found for MUC7.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot and ELISA.

Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
