Cathepsin D is a ubiquitously expressed lysosomal aspartyl protease involved in the normal degradation of proteins.
It is synthesized as an inactive 43kD preprocathepsin D that is cleaved and glycosylated to form a 46kD procathepsin D and then further cleaved to produce 28kD and 15kD subunits (heavy and light chains, respectively).
Cathepsin D may also be secreted into the cytosol during apoptosis and contribute to cleavage of substrates implicated in the apoptotic pathway.
Numerous studies have suggested that cathepsin D plays a role in neuronal degradation and malignant transformation, particularily in breast cancer.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot.

Recommended Dilution:Western Blot: 1:500-1:1000Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for 12 months.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
