ARX (Aristaless-related genes), a subset of the Paired-related homeobox genes, is a group of regulators of essential events during vertebrate embryogenesis.
Arx was highly conserved between mouse and zebrafish.
Studies have disclosed its neuromeric expression in the forebrain and longitudinal expression in the floor plate in mouse and zebrafish.
It is also expressed in the dorsal telencephalon (presumptive cerebral cortex) of mouse embryos.
