Heparan sulfate (HS) sulfotransferases, such as HS6ST3, modify HS to generate structures required for interactions between HS and a variety of proteins.
These interactions are implicated in proliferation and differentiation, adhesion, migration, inflammation, blood coagulation, and other diverse processes.
The deduced 470aa protein has characteristics of a type II transmembrane protein, with a short N-terminal segment followed by a hydrophobic sequence.
It also contains 6 N-glycosylation sites.
Northern blot analysis of adult mouse tissues detected tissue-specific expression of several Hs6st3 transcripts.
Hs6st3 was also secreted into the culture medium.
Hs6st3 showed 6-O-sulfotransferase activity against HS, N-sulfated heparosan, heparin, and some HS derivatives.
Applications: Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation, Immunohistochemistry, Immunocytochemistry.
Other applications not tested.
