Serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine) is a catecholamine with a molecular weight of 176 Daltons that is formed in gastrointestinal enteroendocrine cells, platelets, brain and spinal cord.
It is secreted by enterochromaffin cells (EC) in the stomach, intestines and appendix and is believed to play a role in gut motility.
Serotonin is the major secretion of carcinoid tumors.
It is metabolized with the production of 5-hydroxy-indoleacetic acid
Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
