• Serum/glucocorticoid regulated kinase 2,is a serine/threonine protein kinase.
• Although this gene product is similar to serum- and glucocorticoid-induced protein kinase (SGK), this gene is not induced by serum or glucocorticoids.
• This gene is induced in response to signals that activate phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase, which is also true for SGK.
• Two alternate transcripts encoding two different isoforms have been described.
• SGK2-alpha encodes a protein of 367aa with a calculated molecular mass of about 41kD.
• SGK2-beta encodes a protein of 427aa with a calculated molecular mass of about 48kD.
• SGK2 shares about 80% sequence identity with SGK1 and SGK3 (SGKL) within the central catalytic domain.
• Both the N and C termini share much less similarity.
• Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry, Immunocytochemistry.
