(1992) identified a new member of the serum amyloid A protein superfamily, designated SAA4, as constitutive apolipoprotein of high density lipoprotein.
Watson et al.
(1992) analyzed the structure of the gene and the derived protein structure.
Steel et al.
(1993) demonstrated that the SAA4 gene is located 9 kb downstream of the SAA2 gene (104751) on chromosome 11.
Furthermore, it shares the same 5-prime to 3-prime orientation and has the characteristic 4-exon structure of the other members of the SAA superfamily.
By fluorescence in situ hybridization using a cosmid probe carrying the SAA2 and SAA4 genes, Sellar et al.
(1994) localized these genes to 11p15.1.
De Beer et al.
(1996) found that in the mouse the Saa4 gene is linked to the serum amyloid A gene family on chromosome 7.
