Various cellular responses are regulated by the second messengers cAMP and cGMP.
Phosphodiesterases, such as PDE10A, eliminate cAMP- and cGMP-mediated intracellular signaling by hydrolyzing the cyclic nucleotide to the corresponding nucleoside 5-prime monophosphate.
The deduced 779aa protein has a calculated molecular mass of 88.4kD and contains cGMP-binding sequences and a catalytic domain.
Northern blot analysis detected a 10-kb PDE10A transcript in several tissues, with highest levels in fetal brain and kidney, in putamen and caudate nucleus of adult brain, and in thyroid and testis.
A 4-kb transcript was also detected in thyroid and testis.
mRNA dot blot analysis showed a similar PDE10A expression pattern.
Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry, Immunocytochemistry.
