Osteocalcin (OC) is the most abundant noncollagenous protein in mature bone where it constitutes 1% to 2% of the total protein.
Synthesized by osteoblasts, it is incorporated into the bone matrix
Osteocalcin is a 49-residue protein with three gamma-carboxyglutamic acid residues, at positions 17, 21 and 24.
These three residues confer on it a very strong ability to bind to hydroxyapatite.
Osteocalcin is a noncollagenous protein found in bone and dentin.
It is secreted by osteoblasts and thought to play a role in mineralization and calcium ion homeostasis.
It has been stipulated that osteocalcin may also function as a negative regulator of bone formation, although its exact role is unknown
Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry, Immunocytochemistry.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:ELISA: 1:100-1:5000 Western Blot: 1:50-400 Immunohistochemistry (frozen): 1:50-500 Immunohistochemistry (paraffin): 1:10-100 Immunocytochemistry: 1:50-500 Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
