Diacylglycerol kinase zeta is an enzyme belongs to the eukaryotic diacylglycerol kinase family.
It may attenuate protein kinase C activity by regulating diacylglycerol levels in intracellular signaling cascade and signal transduction.
Alternative splicing occurs at this locus and three transcript variants encoding three distinct isoforms have been identified.
Human DGK-zeta contains 2 zinc fingers, an ATP-binding site, and 4 ankyrin repeats near the C terminus.
A unique feature, as compared with other DGKs, is the presence of a sequence homologous to the MARCKS phosphorylation site domain.
Northern blot analysis of multiple tissues showed that DGK-zeta is expressed at highest levels in brain and muscle.
