CutA is thought to be involved in cellular tolerance to a wide variety of divalent cations other than copper.
The cutA locus consists of two operons, of one and two genes.
The CutA1 protein is a cytoplasmic protein, encoded by the single-gene operon and has been linked to divalent cation tolerance.
It has no recognized structural motifs.CutA may play a role in anchoring acetylcholinesterase in neuronal cell membranes and may be involved in signal transduction
CutA is a ubiquitous trimeric protein, homologous to the bacterial CutA1 protein that belongs to an operon involved in resistance to divalent ions ("copper tolerance A").
The function of this protein in plants and animals is unknown, and several hypotheses concerning its subcellular localization have been proposed.
Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry, Immunocytochemistry.
Other applications not tested.
