S100 calcium-binding protein A8 (S100A8) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the S100A8 gene.
It is also known as calgranulin A.
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the S100 family of proteins containing 2 EF-hand calcium-binding motifs.
S100 proteins are localized in the cytoplasm and/or nucleus of a wide range of cells, and involved in the regulation of a number of cellular processes such as cell cycle progression and differentiation.
S100 genes include at least 13 members which are located as a cluster on chromosome 1q21.
This protein may function in the inhibition of casein kinase and as a cytokine.
Altered expression of this protein is associated with the disease cystic fibrosis.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Western Blot: 0.1-0.5ug/mlImmunohistochemistry (paraffin): 0.1-0.5ug/mlOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C.
Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C.
Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
