ETS translocation variant 4 (ETV4), also known as polyoma enhancer activator 3 (PEA3), or E1AF, is a member of the PEA3 subfamily of Ets transcription factors.
It is mapped to 17q21.31.
E1AF can activate the promoters of various matrix metalloproteinases, genes whose expression is associated with tumor cell invasion and metastasis, by 10 to 20 fold. Pea3 is detected in cells of epithelial and fibroblastic origin.
It is also a transcriptional activator that binds to the enhancer of the adenovirus E1A gene.
