MaxLight™ 490 is a new Blue-Green photostable dye conjugate comparable to DyLight™488, Alexa Fluor™488 and offers better labeling efficiency, brighter imaging and increased immunodetection.
PKC isoforms are divided into three classes: conventional (cPKC), novel and atypical (aPKC).1 Vertebrates express two atypical PKCs, z and i/l.
PKCi2 and -l3 are human and mouse orthologues, respectively.
PKCz ia a key regulator of signaling pathways, and is involved in the MAP kinase cascade, NFkB activation, ribosomal S6-protein kinase signaling, and cell polarity.Brain-specific PKCz, or PKMz, is a new PKC isoform, synthesized from PKMz mRNA encoding a PKCz catalytic domain without a regulatory domain, which is not a proteolytic fragment of PKCz, as previously thought.
PKMz is a specific, autonomously active form of aPKCz4 that is both necessary and sufficient for maintaining hippocampal long-term potentiation (LTP).
PKCz is the only PKC isozyme with a stable PKM form in hippocampus.6,7 Metabolic labeling of hippocampal slices shows increased de novo synthesis of PKMz in LTP.
Because PKMz is a kinase synthesized in an autonomously active form and is necessary and sufficient for maintaining LTP, it serves as an example of a link coupling gene expression directly to synaptic plasticity.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunoprecipitation.

For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap.
