This gene encodes a member of the neurotrophic tyrosine receptor kinase (NTRK) family.
This kinase is a membrane-bound receptor that, upon neurotrophin binding, phosphorylates itself and members of the MAPK pathway.
Signalling through this kinase leads to cell differentiation.
Mutations in this gene have been associated with obesity and mood disorders.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
Tropomyosin receptor kinase B is the high affinity catalytic receptor for several "neurotrophins", which are small protein growth factors that induce the survival and differentiation of distinct cell populations.
The neurotrophins that activate TrkB are: BDNF (Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor), neurotrophin-4 (NT-4), and neurotrophin-3 (NT-3).
As such, TrkB mediates the multiple effects of these neurotrophic factors, which includes neuronal differentiation and survival.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Western Blot: 0.1-0.5ug/ml, the detection limit is ~0.1ng/lane under reducing conditions

Storage and Stability:Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C.
Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C.
Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.

For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
