Claudin-5(CLDN5) also known as BEC1, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the CLDN5 gene.
By use of yeast artificial chromosomes, Claudin-5 is localized between polymorphic markers D22S944 and D22S941 on chromosome 22q11, both of which are deleted in more than 80% of VCFS patients.
This gene encodes a member of the claudin family.
Claudins are integral membrane proteins and components of tight junction strands.
Tight junction strands serve as a physical barrier to prevent solutes and water from passing freely through the paracellular space between epithelial or endothelial cell sheets.
Claudin-5 plays a major role in tight junction-specific obliteration of the intercellular space.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Western Blot: 0.1-0.5ug/ml, the detection limit is ~0.2ng/lane under reducing conditions

Storage and Stability:Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C.
Stable for 12 months at -20°C.
Reconstitute with sterile dH2O.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.

For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
