Junction plakoglobin(JUP), also known as gamma-catenin, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the JUP gene.
It is a member of the catenin protein family and homologous to beta-catenin, and it is mapped to 17q21.2.
This gene encodes a major cytoplasmic protein that is the only known constituent common to submembranous plaques of both desmosomes and intermediate junctions.
This protein forms distinct complexes with cadherins and desmosomal cadherins.
Meanwhile, JUP may have distinct roles in Wnt signaling and cancer via differential effects on downstream target genes.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry and Immunocytochemistry.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Western Blot: 0.1-0.5ug/ml, the detection limit is ~0.25ng/lane under reducing conditions
Immunohistochemistry (frozen): 0.5-1ug/mlImmunohistochemistry (paraffin): 0.5-1ug/ml, boiling the paraffin sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0, for 20 mins is required for the staining of formalin/paraffin sections
Immunocytochemistry: 0.5-1ug/mlOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C.
Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C.
Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
