• BID (BH3-Interacting Domain Death Agonist), is a pro-apoptotic member of the Bcl-2 protein family.
• The BCL2 family of proteins consists of both antagonists and agonists that regulate apoptosis and compete through dimerization.
• By fluorescence in situ hybridization, Wang et al.
• (1998) mapped the human BID gene to 22q11.
• Luo et al.
• (1998) reported the purification of a cytosolic protein that induces cytochrome c release from mitochondria in response to caspase-8, the apical caspase activated by cell surface death receptors such as FAS and TNF.
• Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry and Immunocytochemistry.
• Other applications not tested.
• Recommended Dilution:Western Blot: 0.1-0.5ug/ml, the detection limit is ~1ng/lane under reducing conditions
• Immunohistochemistry (paraffin): 0.5-1ug/ml, boiling the paraffin sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0, for 20 mins is required for the staining of formalin/paraffin sections
• Immunocytochemistry: 0.5-1ug/mlOptimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
• Storage and Stability:Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C.
• Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C.
• Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O.
• Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
• Store at -20°C.
• Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C.
• For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
• Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
