ATF2, also known as Activating transcription factor 2, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the ATF2 gene.
It is mapped to 2q31.1.
This gene encodes a transcription factor that is a member of the leucine zipper family of DNA-binding proteins.
This protein binds to the cAMP-responsive element (CRE), an octameric palindrome.
The protein forms a homodimer or heterodimer with c-Jun and stimulates CRE-dependent transcription.
The protein is also a histone acetyltransferase (HAT) that specifically acetylates histones H2B and H4 in vitro, thus, it may represent a class of sequence-specific factors that activate transcription by direct effects on chromatin components.
Additional transcript variants have been identified but their biological validity has not been determined.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot and Immunohistochemistry.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Western Blot: 0.1-0.5ug/ml, the detection limit is ~0.25ng/lane under reducing conditions
Immunohistochemistry (frozen): 0.5-1ug/mlImmunohistochemistry (paraffin): 0.5-1ug/ml, boiling the paraffin sections in 10mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0, for 20 mins is required for the staining of formalin/paraffin sections

Storage and Stability:Lyophilized powder may be stored at -20°C.
Stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C.
Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
Reconstituted product is stable for 12 months at -20°C.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
