Vesicle Amine Transport protein-1 (VAT1) plays a role in calcium-regulated keratinocyte activation in epidermal repair mechanisms through its ATPase activity.
It is also expressed in the brain, glioblastoma cells and in wounding.
Its expression is calcium ion-dependent.
