Stromal membrane associated protein-2 (SMAP2) is a GTPase activating protein that plays a role in clathrin-dependent endocytosis.
SMAP2 is known to interact with ARF1 and ARF6 (in vitro) and may play a role in clathrin-dependent retrograde transport from early endosomes to the trans-Golgi.
It is expressed in multiple foci throughout the cytoplasm and in juxtanuclear structures.
