Nucleobindin 1 is a 461aa ubiquitous protein with an N-terminal of 25aa signal peptide responsible for its initial localization to the endoplasmic reticulum (ER).
It has also been detected in the cytoplasm and in various subcellular structures such as the nucleus, mitochondria and the Golgi apparatus.
Nucleobindin plays a role in a number of cellullar processes such as intracellular signaling, inflammation, autoimmunity, osteogenesis and cancer.
