Chromogranin-C, also known as Secretogranin II, is a secretory prohormone found in neuroendocrine cells that can be processed into at least three biologically active peptides, including secretoneurin.
Secretoneurin, present in the nervous system, is evolutionarily conserved from fish to mammals.
Similar to other chromogranins, secretogranin II is expressed in neuroendocrine tumors, and may be used as a biomarker for disease.
