Chromogranin-B is a prohormone and a member of the secretory granin family found in mammalian neuroendocrine cells.
Although Chromogranin-B shares certain homology and binding properties with family member Chromogranin-A, the two proteins are thought to be mostly segregated in secretory granules.
Chromogranin-B may be cleaved into multiple different peptides, some with identified biological activity.
Recent research has indicated that Chromogranin-B may serve as a biomarker for heart failure in patients.
