LHX3 is one of several transcription factors that have been implicated in pituitary development.
LHX3 is critical for motor neuron specification and the development of the anterior and intermediate lobes of the pituitary gland in mammals.
A point mutation in the LHX3 gene has recently been implicated in a severe form of combined pituitary hormone deficiency in humans.
Patients who have both a missense mutation and an intragenic deletion in the LHX3 gene display retarded growth, pituitary hormone deficiency and abnormal neck and cervical spine development.
Recent laboratory studies show that mutant forms of the LHX3 protein are not fully able to activate pituitary hormone gene promoters.
Mice with a targeted disruption of the LHX3 gene are usually stillborn or die shortly after birth and do not possess either the anterior or intermediate lobes of the pituitary gland.
The possibility exists that other mutations in the LHX3/P-LIM/LIM-3 gene may result in many additional types of pituitary/growth conditions in both humans and animals.
With this new information, various assays, tests, and ultimately treatments could be developed for conditions/diseases related to mutations in the LHX3/P-LIM/LIM-3 gene.

Storage and Stability:Store product at 4°C in the dark.
DO NOT FREEZE! Stable at 4°C for 12 months after receipt as an undiluted liquid.
Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Caution: MaxLight™550 conjugates are sensitive to light.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap.
Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
