MaxLight™490 is a new Blue-Green photostable dye conjugate comparable to DyLight™488, Alexa Fluor™488 and offers better labeling efficiency, brighter imaging and increased immunodetection.
The neurotransmitter GABA binds to specific transmembrane receptors in the plasma membrane of both pre- and postsynaptic neurons.
The GABAA receptor is a multiprotein complex that acts as a ligand-gated chloride channel.
There are at least 6 different isoforms of the alpha subunit.
Increased alpha1 subunit assembly in postsynaptic receptors of cerebellar inhibitory synapses is responsible for the fast inhibitory synaptic currents observed during postnatal development.
Additionally, alpha1-containing GABAA receptors are important in regulating the reinforcing properties of alcohol, and expression of the alpha1 subunit increases upon chronic exposure to alcohol, making it a potential therapeutic target for alcohol dependency.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation and Immunohistochemistry.
Other applications have not been tested.
Recommended Dilutions:Western Blot: 1:10,000 detects the GABA Receptor A, alpha1 subunit in 10ug of rat brain microsomal preparation.

Immunoprecipitation: 5ul immunoprecipitates the GABA Receptor A, alpha1 subunit in rat brain microsomal preparation RIPA lysate.
Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin): 1:500 detects the GABA Receptor A, alpha1 subunit in rat hippocampus tissue.
