RANBP2 (RAN binding protein 2) mRNA encodes a very large protein (3224 amino acids) that immunolocalizes to the nuclear pore complex.
The protein has a 700-residue leucine-rich domain at the amino end, 4 motifs in common with RANBP1, 8 zinc finger motifs, and a C-terminus similar to that of cyclophilin.
The gene is also referred to as NUP358.
