DAPK1, a DAPK type protein kinase, is a positive mediator of gamma-interferon induced programmed cell death.
It is believed to function in an early apoptotic checkpoint designed to eliminate premalignant cells from cancer development.
The DAPK1 protein contains eight ankyrin repeats and two putative P-loop consensus sites.
Loss of DAPK1 expression has been associated with invasive tumors.
