Neuron-specific enolase (NSE) is a glycolytic isoenzyme which is located in central and peripheral neurons and neuroendocrine cells.
This enzyme is released into the CSF when neural tissue is injured.
Neoplasms derived from neural or neuroendocrine tissue may release NSE into the blood.
NSE is a useful substance that has been detected in patients with certain tumors, namely: neuroblastoma, small cell lung cancer, medullary thyroid cancer, carcinoid tumors, pancreatic endocrine tumors, and melanoma.
Applications:Suitable for use in ELISA.
Other applications not tested.
Recommended Dilution:Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for 12 months.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Labeled with horseradish peroxidase (HRP).
Sodium azide is a potent inhibitor of peroxidase and should not be added to HRP conjugates.
HRP conjugates are sensitive to light.
