Necdin is a growth suppressor that facilitates the entry of the cell into cell cycle arrest.
It represses the activity of cell-cycle-promoting proteins such as SV40 large T antigen, adenovirus E1A, and the transcription factor E2F.
Necdin also interacts with p53 and works in an additive manner to inhibit cell growth.
Functions also as transcription factor and binds directly to specific guanosine-rich DNA sequences.
Defects in necdin may be the cause of the Prader-Willi syndrome which is characterized by muscular hypotonia, mental retardation, short stature, obesity, hypogonadotropic hypogonadism, and small hands and feet.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot.

Storage and Stability:Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks.
For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt.
Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Note: Sodium azide is a potent inhibitor of peroxidase and should not be added to HRP conjugates.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
