The MBD family of proteins includes MeCP2, MBD1, MBD2, MBD3 and MBD4.
MBD1 (methyl-CpG binding domain protein 1) binds to methylated CpG sites and represses gene transcription.
MBD1 is recruited to both methylated and non-methylated CpGs by separate domains: the CXXC domain targets the protein to non-methylated CpGs whereas the MBD domain targets the protein to methylated CpG.
MBD1 may also interact with histone methyltransferase SETDB1 to repress transcription.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot.
Other applications not tested.

Storage and Stability:Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks.
For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt.
Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
Caution: FITC conjugates are sensitive to light.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
