Prosaposin is a highly conserved 66kD glycoprotein which contains separate domains in tandem for four saposins, A, B, C, and D.
These saposins are involved in lysosomal hydrolysis of GM1 ganglioside, gluco- and galactocerebrosides, sulfatides, and sphingomyelin and other sphingolipids.
It also exists as a secretory protein in body fluids.
Deficiency of PSAP saposin-B, PSAP saposin-C and PSAP saposin-D region are the cause of a variant of metachromatic leukodystrophy, atypical Gaucher disease and Tay-Sachs disease respectively.
Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
The gene maps to 10q21-q22 region of human chromosome.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot.

Storage and Stability:Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks.
For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt.
Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
