MIF (macrophage migration inhibitory factor) was one of the first cytokine activities to be discovered and was initially described as a T cell-derived factor that inhibit the random migration of microphages.
Recently, MIF was rediscovered as a pituitary hormone that acts as the counter-regulatory hormone for glucocorticoid action within the immune system.
MIF was released from macrophages and T-cells in response to physiological concentrations of glucocorticoids.
The secreted MIF counter-regulates the immunosuppressive effects of steroids on immune cell activation and cytokine production.
MIF also plays a critical role in the host control of inflammation and immunity.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot.
Other applications not tested.

Storage and Stability:Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks.
For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt.
Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use.
Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
Note: Applications are based on unconjugated antibody.
