Desmosomes are a type of intercellular junction between epithelial, myocardial, and certain other cell types.
Desmoglein 1 is a calcium-binding transmembrane glycoprotein component of desmosomes in vertebrate epithelial cells.
Currently, three desmoglein isoforms have been identified: DSG1, DSG2 and DSG3; all members of the cadherin cell adhesion molecule family.
DSG1 has been identified as the autoantigen of the autoimmune skin blistering disease pemphigus foliaceus.
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot.
Other applications not tested.
