PDGF is amitogen formesenchyme- and glia-derived cells.
Itconsists of two disulfide-bonded polypeptide chains, A and B, and occurs asthree isoforms, PDGF-AA, PDGF-AB and PDGF-BB.
The three isoforms bindwith different affinitiesto two receptor types, A and B,which are structurallyrelated and possess protein-tyrosine kinase domains.Ligand binding induces activation of the receptorkinases byformation of receptor dimers; the A subunit of PDGF binds onlyto A receptorswith high affinity,whereasthe B subunitcan bind to both A and B receptors.
Evidence suggeststhat PDGFmayfunction as a neurotrophicfactor.
The fact that PDGFtype A receptors are expressed in oligodendrocyte progenitorcellswhereas PDGFtype B receptors are expressed on neuronssuggeststhat the different isoforms of PDGF may regulate growth and differentiation of differentcell typesin the developing central nervoussystemby paracrine and autocrine routes
Applications:Suitable for use in Western Blot.

Recommended Dilution:Western Blot: 1:500-1:1000Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
Storage and Stability:May be stored at 4°C for short-term only.
Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
Store at -20°C.
Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt.
For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
